CHECKLIST FOR TILE LAYING






Some Quality checks for tile laying are as follows

1. The motor bed thickness shall not be less than 10 mm. It should not be more than 30mm. Check the motor w / c ratio.

2. The joints between the tiles should be approximately 1.5 mm.

3. Inside the wall plaster, the tile is about 10 mm.

4. If the tile is to be worked in a large hall, the centre section can be raised 10mm to avoid the illusion of depression in the centre of the hall.

5. The joints must be properly aligned and filled with the approved shade motor (according to the tile shade).


6. Avoid gaps between adjacent tiles. Tiles should be on the same level.

Check List For Flooring Tiles

1. Tiles should be laid with zero slopes. So no slope or ratings without the overall area to be present

2. The tile joints should be equal between the positions; Tile joints should be spaced. 

3. Tile joints must be filled with appropriate grounds. Correct filling to check the outlet, that is, without spaces, ratings and color variation

4. Tile Damages & Chip Offs to be Verified; Color variation should be checked.


5. Sliding tiles - the wall should be equal; The edges & corners should not be sharp; Floor tile joints tile with line fitting; Also check for damages and color differences


Checklist for Toilets, Utilities & Balconies (TUB) Flooring:

1. Slope: Pour water into a bucket and check the inclination of the floor. Water should be completely exhausted within two minutes.

2. Check the position of the floor trap; It should be kept in order to help the water run out

3. The positions between the tiles must be equal; The tile joint space should be equal.

4. Tile joints should be filled with appropriate pulp. Check the outlet for proper filling, that is, without spaces, ratings and color variation.

5. Tile Damages & Chip Offs Must Be Checked; Color variation should be checked.

6. Sliding tiles - The offset from the wall should be equal; The edges & corners should not be sharp; The joist line of the floor tiles should match the sliding tile; Also check for damages and colour differences


7. hollowness - Tap the tiles roughly and look for plain sounds



Checklist for Toilets, Utilities, Balconies (TUB) & Kitchen Walls:

1. All walls must be plumb and right angle

2. All corners must be filled with silicone sealant (sanitary sealant)

3. The levels between the tiles must be the same; The tile joint spacing should be equal.

4. Cut the tiles around the plumbing fixtures and electrical boxes should be cut to the proper shape and the cutting edge should not be visible after fixing the plumbing and electrical fixtures.

5. The tile joints must be filled with suitable grouts. Check the grout for proper fill, i.e. no gaps, ripples, and color variation.

6. Check for tile and chip damage; Color variation has to be verified.

7. Hollowness: Randomly tap the tiles and see if there is a hollow sound.
