HOW TO CHOOSE RIGHT MCB BREAKER CURRENT RATING
A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) automatically switches off the electrical circuit during an abnormal condition of the network means in overload condition as well as faulty condition. Nowadays we use an MCB in low voltage electrical network instead of a fuse.
STANDARD SIZES OF MCB
.
TYPES OF MCB
There are about six different types of MCBs, namely A, B, C, D, K and Z. First, Type A deviates from the circuit when the current exceeds 2-3 times the actual current rating. Because this type is very sensitive to short circuits, it is more suitable for semiconductor devices. Next, type B, which stops when the current flows 3-5 times from the actual flow and finds use for cable protection.
The MCB type is best suited for domestic appliances, where the average current load, type C. MCB Type C trips when the current flow is 5-10 times more than normal. Type D MCBs have high durability as they can withstand up to 10-20 times the current rate. If you are looking for a circuit breaker for a device with a high starting load such as a motor, then type D is the ideal choice. Type K MCBs hold up to 8-12 times of initial charge and are thus usable for large load devices.
HOW TO CALCULATE RIGHT MCB BREAKER CURRENT RATING
WATTS
A watt is a unit of power. In the International Unit System is defined as a 1-joule derivative unit per second and used to measure the rate of energy transfer. Power Is Measured In Watts (W)
DEMAND FACTOR
Demand Factor: the ratio of the maximum demand during an assigned period upon an electric-power system to the load actually connected during that time expressed usually in per cent.
VOLT
Volt (Voltage), electric potential difference, electric pressure or electric tension is the difference in electric potential between two points
